What's In Your Pet's Vaccine?
Ever wonder what's in that harmless-looking tiny bottle your vet draws from and injects into your dog or cat?
Ever think about why so many folks, and the media, are making such a big stink about those who choose not to vaccinate their animals or children? Or why the folks who don’t want to vaccinate their children or animals are vilified and attacked, while the folks who drink the pro-vaccination Kool-Aid are considered to be conscientious citizens? Why you never hear about a lawsuit against a Pharma company for vaccine injuries to a child or an animal; and you never will? Although I’m talking mostly about animals, the cross-over to human vaccines is exactly the same.
We don’t have room here to delve deeply into all these questions; but suffice to say that everyone should be asking them and many others. In my opinion, however, the very first question all of us should be asking is: what’s in a vaccine?
If you want the condensed version of this article, because you don’t have time or the stomach to hear all the gory details, an abbreviated list is below. But remember, we spend far more time analyzing which new cell phone to buy than we do researching what’s injected into our animals. I urge you take the deep dive; but — fair warning — it’s not a comforting story.
The Toxic Cocktail
All vaccines are basically made in the same way, except the new m-RNA jabs which we won’t discuss here. For almost all others, the variations in the ingredients are only slight from company to company, and from species to species (humans, dogs, horses, etc) — except, that is, for the ‘virus’ particles themselves. There was a time when the ingredients were available on a rather large, thin papered ingredient insert that was folded very tightly to fit into each box. Wish I had saved some of those, because now you can’t find any ingredient disclosures. Pharma claims that sharing such information would give away their proprietary secrets.
What’s more frustrating for me as a vet trying to help your animals is the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) protection of industry’s proprietary formulas. Yes, another captured agency. I am not able, as a veterinarian, to obtain pertinent data from which to recommend specific vaccine types for individual animals based on their need, age, susceptibility, region where they live, etc. It’s usually one-size- fits-all. And frankly, for more reasons than this, the lack of transparency means buyer beware!
Although we don’t know all the ingredients of every individual vaccine, we do know the sorts of ingredients common to most. Additionally, research has shown many of the toxic reactions these substances can create. Unfortunately little research has been done on the combined toxic effects. That is, except in your animals. The animals are an ongoing de facto research program, done without your or your animal’s consent, and who’s outcome no one really cares about.
Adjuvants: aluminum salts, oil-based squalene, bacteria-based lipopolysac- charides, sugars.
Preservatives: mercury (thimerosal), antibiotics (gentamicin, amphotericin B, neomycin, polymyxin-B), phenoxyethanol.
Attenuating agents: formaldehyde.
Growth medium: foreign animal tissues: chick embryo, bovine serum, human fetal lung tissue, monkey kidney tissue, porcine tissue, eggs, insect proteins, dog or cat kidney tissue.
Fungicides and antimicrobials: phenols, formaldehyde.
Buffering agents: glycerol, sorbitol, sucrose, salts, borax.
Stabilizers: formaldehyde.
Surfactant, Permeability Enhancer: polysorbate 80 (Tween® 80).
Virus particles: individual vaccines (modified live or killed), contamination viruses (rotavirus, pestivirus, retrovirus, just to name a few, that come from the animal tissues used to grow the vaccines.
Contaminates: glyphosate from GMO-fed animals then used for vaccine growth medium (eggs, bovine and porcine tissue), insect viruses (Army worm), viruses, bacteria, etc.
I hope this list of ingredients makes you shudder, and at the very least hesitant to vaccinate until you gather more information. Please read further to understand what injecting these into your furry family could mean for their longevity and vitality, not to mention their suffering and your stress as you experience an animal plagued by post-vaccination chronic illness for years, and sometimes for their entire lives.
Big Pharma and the media would have you believe there might be some teeny possibility of harm that could, might, maybe occur rarely, if ever, on a purple planet, far, far away. But mostly vaccines are good and everyone needs them!
They want us to believe that there is no ugly, only good. I beg to differ, as would many thousands of doctors and health care providers who study the ugly. I’m sharing some of that information with you here; but I wish I could share a week in the life of this Heretical Vet trying to help all the vaccine-injured animals.
THE FIRST UGLY — ADJUVANTS
These are chemicals added to vaccines to enhance and lengthen the immune response, especially at the local injection site. Typically used are aluminum salts discovered many years ago as pickling agents. Yes, for pickles! I’m hoping I never ate any of those pickles. There is NOT ONE bio system that can use the heavy metal aluminum – none! Have a look at Dr. Christopher Exley’s Substack, and you’ll understand more. Dr. Exley is one of the world’s most important aluminum researchers. Once it’s in the body, it’s very difficult to remove. It’s troubling how this method of pickling cucumbers became an ingredient to supercharge vaccines.
Basically, the aluminum adjuvants turn on the immune system in a non-selective, non-specific way, making “immunity” last longer. We think of these reactions as benign, and collectively call them “allergies.” but anyone living with a pet with allergies knows they are far from benign.
After the aluminum causes damage locally, it goes to the brain, spleen, muscles, bones, liver, kidneys, and heart where it stimulates the immune system by repeatedly presenting the virus antigen particles. At the same time it acts as an antigen itself by stimulating the immune system to stay “turned on.” In other words, it acts as both an adjuvant and an antigen.
These toxicants are so widely studied now there is actually a syndrome used to describe the complex of diseases created by adjuvants. It’s called Autoimmune Inflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants — ASIA for short. Few veterinarians or human doctors are even aware of this syndrome; so it’s unlikely you would know about it. This syndrome has shown that chronic stimulation of the immune system creates chronic inflammation, and leads to chronic autoimmune disease throughout the body. That’s a lot of chronic, isn’t it? Autoimmune disease is as epidemic in our animals, as is cancer. Once these tissues are inflamed it’s not easy to cool them down.
Other adjuvants such as squalene, sugars, and lipopolysaccharides aren’t naturally adjuvants, but added with other ingredients they become very irritating to the immune system, and make antibody response to the vaccines more aggressive and longer-lasting.
If your animal survives the harmful effects of heavy metals, oils, sugars and fatty sugars produced by bacteria, there are still more hurdles to jump.
THE SECOND UGLY — PRESERVATIVES
Vaccines are actually quite unstable at room temperature. Therefore refrigeration and stabilization with chemicals is critical to keep them from becoming inactive. The most common chemical agent is ethyl mercury — also infamously known as thimerosal or merthiolate (yes, what your mother used on your minor cuts). While it’s also very toxic to the central nervous system, its most likely used widely in vaccines because it’s very inexpensive.
The toxic effects of ethyl mercury include the disruption of normal nerve signaling for motor functions (think degenerative myelopathy or weakness of the spinal nerves). And/or the destruction of brain cells causing the decrease of memory function (think cognition problems and Alzheimers). For those who lack the ability to detoxify and remove this heavy metal, it causes further immune dis-regulation (think total chaos!).
THE THIRD UGLY — ANTIBACTERIALS & ANTIFUNGALS
Since vaccines are always (yes, always!) contaminated with all sorts of bugs that come along with the tissues they are grown on, it’s necessary to put in anti-growth ingredients. To prevent foreign bacteria and fungi from growing, they add common antibiotics and fungicides such as gentamicin, amphotericin B, neomycin and polymyxin-B to the cocktail. I have to wonder if using these could be an early set-up for the kind of antibody-resistant bacteria that are now epidemic.
And if that weren’t enough, add a dash of phenoxyethanol, which is made from phenol, a known carcinogen, which in turn is made from benzene, another known carcinogen. This antimicrobial is the same phenol naturally found in coal tar, a highly toxic acid (aka carbolic acid) and is caustic to the skin, eyes, and respiratory system. It’s basically toxic to all tissues, and is commonly known to cause reproductive issues. Phenoxyethanol’s chemical intermediate is used in the production of plastics (BPA), nylon, detergents, herbicides and pharmaceuticals. It was also used by the Third Reich to kill people!
If this isn’t sending chills up your spine, read on.
THE FORTH UGLY — ATTENUATING AGENTS
Attenuation is the process of altering the virus particles (called antigens) to make them less virulent, and therefore less capable of causing illness. The virus is passed through certain tissues, and is altered so as to be harmless (in theory), or less virulent (hopefully). These vaccines are then called ‘modified live’ and constitute many of the animal vaccines like parvo and distemper. The viruses are considered to be live but weakened; and are thus less likely to cause the full-blown clinical disease. These modified-live vaccines have enough of the antigen present that the immune system elicits a stronger, longer-lasting effect on its own, decreasing the need to add the adjuvants we discussed before. But that doesn’t mean those ingredients get left out!
Inactivated vaccines — also called ‘killed vaccines’ (rabies, polio) — are usually
created by heating or by using formaldehyde. These vaccines are considered weaker and thus require boosters to provide a ‘adequate’ immune response. They are usually reserved for life-threatening or infectious diseases. Adjuvants are added to killed vaccines along with more antigen, which makes them last longer and produce more immune stimulation, often causing more adverse reactions than modified live vaccines.
Viruses infect all sorts of plants and animals. Passing virus antigens through tissue cultures of these plants or animals can allow for unwanted viral contamination, making the vaccine cocktail infected. An additional component of the vaccine cocktail is formaldehyde — a known carcinogen — which is used as a chemical attenuating agent.
Is your head spinning? Mine is.
THE FIFTH UGLY — GROWTH MEDIUM
Many vaccines are grown on tissue considered foreign to our animals’ bodies. The commonly used tissues to grow viruses for vaccines are chick embryos, fetal bovine serum, human diploid (aborted fetus) lung, monkey kidney, dog kidney, and porcine gelatin.
These growth mediums were not meant to elicit an immune reaction, but they do. The foreign tissue cells quickly make their way into the bloodstream, exposing all the organs of the body to these large proteins that otherwise would never have gained access to our inner sanctum. Anaphylaxis or chronic allergies to pork or eggs are common reactions after vaccines.
Are you starting to get the idea of why I call these '“The Ugly?”
THE SIXTH UGLY — BUFFERING AGENTS
Buffering agents such as the sugars glycerol, sorbitol, and sucrose, as well as salts and borax, all serve to buffer the varied chemical cocktail to help maintain a balanced pH. The borax I mention is sodium borate, also identified by the European Chemicals Agency as a ‘Substance of Very High Concern’. It’s the same detergent we all grew up with, in the box with a mule team of twenty. Its’ role in vaccines is unclear except to balance pH. It’s also associated with increased fetal mortality, low birth weight, and even infant malformations. In dogs and rats it’s been shown to decrease fertility rates — that is, after feeding it to them. Certainly not humane; but feeding toxic borate is actually not as toxic as injecting it into the body.
Now you should be able to see how these cumulative ingredients might cause great harm to your furry family.
THE SEVENTH UGLY — SURFACTANTS
A world without surfactants would make washing our clothes difficult. Using them in vaccines allows the various ingredients to mix and stay in a homogeneous solution. The main emulsifier used is polysorbate 80 (aka Tween® 80), which can be found in some low-quality salad dressings, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. It’s been shown to affect biofilms in both the gut and on the skin by increasing the growth of certain bacteria, like Staphlococcus aureus.
Adding polysorbate 80 to vaccines increases the permeability of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), allowing the heavy metals (aluminum and mercury), either in the vaccines themselves or circulating in the body from other environmental exposures , to cross the BBB. And, it also allows other vaccine ingredients to cross the BBB freely. Animal testing (here we go again!) has shown harmful effects on reproduction, heart function, behavior changes, and carcinogenicity. And the toxic cherry on the top is the breakdown of Tween® 80 to sorbitol, which increases the risk of diabetes.
WHERE’S THE GOOD?
When you find it, let me know! I can’t, for the life of me, find the good. Studying vaccines and vaccinology for 42 years doesn’t make me an expert; but it certainly makes me well educated on the subject. Attempting to help your dear animals that come to me with adverse and very common reactions to these toxic chemicals also doesn’t make me an expert, just a frustrated Heretical Vet who suffers along with every animal and their pet parents.
If I had no other options I might think vaccines were the only method of protection. If I had not studied them for so many years, I might not realize their danger and risk. And I might not have connected the dots between vaccinations and the disease conditions that follow. But, I have studied them, and so has the US Congress. Current law regards vaccines as “unavoidably unsafe;” and the Supreme Court has supported that. This was seemingly forgotten during the Covid vaccine mandates.
In my mind I would be practicing a violation of the Hippocratic Oath to First Do No Harm by injecting your dog with a vaccine that includes the ingredients listed above.
When necessary, and when added to the foundations of wellness (clean fresh food, clean water, no oral or topical pesticides, ample exercise and socialization, herbal and nutritional supplement support), the use of homeopathic preparations can and will enable the immune system to provide adequate protection without poisoning your animal’s body. This simple, yet profound preventative package will support the development of a robust immune system for a lifetime of real protection. For the millennia before vaccines were invented, we and our animals managed to survive. Yes, we had illness. Yes, sometimes we died. But we did not contribute to huge profits for Pharma. Neither did we add to the suffering of our animals.
LET’S BREAK IT DOWN
Each of us must come to our own conclusions, make our own decisions, and live with the consequences. It’s my job as a medical professional to pass on the information I’ve learned. It’s your job to think about this information; and then to give well-informed consent to your vet if you wish to vaccinate. It’s also your job to advocate for your entire family with full knowledge of the possible risks and consequences because really the Hippocratic Oath applies to all of us stewarding these sentient beings we call our family.
